School Closure

Dear Parent/Carers,

I’m sure that you are all aware that schools in England are to close tomorrow. At this stage, we are unsure when we will be re-opening.

Children will be able to continue their learning using our new learning platform, Seesaw. All parents/carers should now have received log in details for this. If you haven’t, then please contact our school office. Our teachers will be setting work each day and feeding back to the children. We have already received some posts from children who are self-isolating, which has been quite delightful to see!

We have a few things that we’d like to share:

• We thought the attached poster, explaining why the school will be closing, would be helpful for you to share with your child. We have tried to make it as child friendly as we can
• We also attach information regarding children’s mental health during these anxious times

• If you child has Special Education Needs, please also find additional information attached.

We will endeavour to keep in close contact with you all via our learning platform and School Ping. The office email will be monitored remotely. Please be aware however, that through potential staff illness, responses may be slower than usual.

We are unsure what will happen across the city re providing child care for key worker and vulnerable children. I believe that hub schools are being considered. We have offered to become one of those schools to support our community. At the moment, schools are waiting to be informed of who exactly falls into these groups. When I know more, I will update you.

During this unprecedented time, I know that all of us have been feeling anxious and concerned about our loved ones and communities both near and far. We will be thinking about our West Hove families and we hope that you all remain fit and well.

I will contact you again when I receive more information from the LA. I know that they are working hard to find the right solution in a very short time frame.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs W Harkness
Executive Head teacher
